The forest industry has many certifications to qualify responsible forestry practices worldwide.  These certifications are monitored by various agencies that insure that the laws are in compliance, there is support of the indigenous people, fair working wages are provided, minimal environmental impact is assured and well-managed forests are intact.

Some of the recognized forest certification systems are:

FSC (Forest Steward Council)

SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative)

CSA (Canadian Standards Association)

PEFC (Pan-European Forest Certification)

AHMI  (Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc.)
