Our top priority at Tulip is to ensure that every job we complete lives up to our high standards. Because our trade involves working with a natural material, it takes an exacting measure of craftsmanship in order to produce an attractive end-product. We invest extensive time and resources into ensuring that our employees are fully prepared for any flooring job they encounter. All of our foremen go through a lengthy training process. After a 3 to 5 year apprenticeship working as a helper, we send prospective foremen to be fully trained by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), the official industry trade association. Over a training program that spans 4-6 weeks, they learn from leading experts about the newest and most effective techniques in wood flooring installation and refinishing. Once they return, we begin by giving them simple jobs, slowly advancing them up to complex installations. We pay all of our workers fair living wages. Employees are eligible for a health-care plan, a competitive IRA matching program, paid vacation and holidays. We do not overwork our crews, because we believe a wood floor that is meant to last for over 100 years is worth that extra day of work it takes to get it right. |
“The foreman did everything as if he were working on his own house and he was an exceptional communicator when there were decisions that we needed to make. We can’t thank him enough for all of his hard work and caring.” –Anne & Kyle, Moraga |
